Waltham Boys & Girls Club and RCN Host Steak & Burger Dinner
With Keynote Speaker Baseball Hall of Famer Jim Rice
“It’s all about the kids!”
The Waltham Boys & Girls Club in collaboration with RCN will host a Steak & Burger Dinner on Wednesday, September 15th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at The Club, located at 20 Exchange Street in Waltham. This year, the Club is pleased to announce that former Red Sox player, Baseball Hall of Famer and RCN spokesperson, Jim Rice will deliver the keynote address. The Steak & Burger Dinner is a key event for The Club, allowing its members the opportunity to share a meal with community leaders.
The hallmark of the event is the program’s role reversal. The Steak & Burger Dinner provides contributing attendees with an opportunity to see the impact their investment has had on The Club and its members. Spending a unique evening of conversation with donors and guests, the youth dine on steaks and adults eat burgers. The program will recognize the achievements of Club members and highlighted with the keynote address by legendary Jim Rice.
“We are thrilled to once again host our Steak and Burger event,” said Jennifer Aldworth, Executive Director of the Waltham Boys & Girls Club. “This is a great opportunity for our kids to rub elbows with community leaders, Club members and to meet Jim Rice. We are grateful for Mr. Rice’s participation and for the enthusiastic support of RCN who helped to make this possible. It’s going to be a great evening of food, baseball and Jim Rice”.
”Community involvement has always been our priority, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to participate in such a momentous event,” said Rice.
Sponsorships to the Steak and Burger event are: (1) Grand Slam for Kids Sponsorship for $5,000 for two tables of 8 (8 adults & 8 Club kids), inclusion in all media to promote and support The Steak & Burger Event, inclusion in forty (4) radio announcements as a Grand Slam sponsor, and your company's name and tag will be mentioned on all five Entercom Boston radio properties, WEEI, WRKO, WAAF, WMKK and the Boston Red Sox Radio Network; or (2) Home Run for the Kids Sponsorship for $1,000 for a table of 8 (4 adults & 4 Club kids). General tickets are $50, which pays for both a dinner for a guest and Club member. Waltham community residents are encouraged to attend; the success of the event truly depends on the number of participants. Please call the Club at (781) 893-6620 if you are interested in being a sponsor, or purchasing dinner tickets. The Club’s website at www.walthambgc.org offers additional information on the dinner event.
Jim Rice was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame class of 2009 on January 12, 2009. Rice spent his entire 16-year career – 1974 through 1989 – with the Boston Red Sox as one of the most feared hitters in baseball. Rice proved he was one of the best American League sluggers by receiving eight All-Star Selections and placing in the top five MVP balloting six times. He has remained closely involved with the Red Sox organization – holding several coaching and commentator positions for New England Sports Network – since ending his playing career in 1989. As a Hall of Famer, Rice will be remembered and revered among the great Red Sox and baseball players of all time.
